1912 Die Macht des Goldes Raquel Welch (born Jo Raquel Tejada; September 5, 1940) is an American actress and singer.
She first won attention for her role in Fantastic Voyage (1966), after which she won a contract with 20th Century Fox. They lent her to a British studio, for whom she made One Million Years B.C. (1966). She had only three lines in the film, yet images of her in the doe-skin bikini which she wore became best-selling posters that turned her into a celebrity sex symbol. She later starred in notable films like Bedazzled (1967), Bandolero! (1968), 100 Rifles (1969), and Myra Breckinridge (1970). She made several television variety specials. In late 2008, she became a spokeswoman for Foster Grant's reading glasses campaign, created by Ferrara and Company.[1]
Welch's unique persona on film made her into an icon of the 1960s and 1970s. She carved out a place in movie history portraying strong female characters and breaking the mold of the submissive sex symbol.[2][3] In 1995, Welch was chosen by Empire magazine as one of the "100 Sexiest Stars in Film History". Playboy ranked Welch No. 3 on their "100 Sexiest Stars of the Twentieth Century" list. In 2011, Men's Health ranked her No. 2 in its "Hottest Women of All Time" list.[4]

Early life[edit]
Welch was born as Jo Raquel Tejada on September 5, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. Her father, Armando Carlos Tejada Urquizo (1911–1976), was an aeronautical engineer from La Paz, Bolivia.[5] Her mother, Josephine Sarah (née Hall; 1909–2000), was the daughter of architect Emery Stanford Hall and wife Clara Louise Adams, and was of English origin.[5][6][7][8][9] She has a younger brother and sister.
As a young girl, Raquel wanted to perform. She studied ballet from age seven to seventeen but gave it up after her instructor told her that she didn't have the right figure.[10] Her parents divorced after moving to California.[11] At age 14, she won a beauty title as Miss Photogenic, Miss Contour.[12] While attending La Jolla High School she won the title of Miss Fairest of the Fair at the San Diego County Fair.[13]
Welch graduated from high school in 1958 [14] and a year later, after becoming pregnant,[11] married her high school sweetheart, James Welch on May 8, 1959.[11] They had two children, Damon (born November 6, 1959) and Latanne Welch (born December 26, 1961), but they separated in 1962 and divorced in 1964.[12] She married producer Patrick Curtis in 1966 and divorced him in 1972. In 1980, she began a 10-year marriage to André Weinfeld. Welch wed Richard Palmer in 1999 but then separated from him in 2008. Welch has stated that she doesn't intend to marry again.[15]
Professional career[edit]
Seeking an acting career, Welch won a scholarship in drama,[11] took classes at San Diego State College and won several parts in local theater productions.[12] In 1959, she played the title role in The Ramona Pageant, a yearly outdoor play at Hemet, California, which is based on the novel Ramona by Helen Hunt Jackson and Bob Biloe.
She got a job as a weather forecaster at KFMB, a local San Diego television station. Due to her demanding work schedule, she quit school. After her separation from James Welch, she moved with her two children to Dallas, Texas, where she made a "precarious living" as a model for Neiman Marcus and as a cocktail waitress.[12]
She initially intended to move to New York City from there, but moved back to Los Angeles in 1963[12] and started applying for roles with the movie studios. During this period of time, she met former child star and Hollywood agent Patrick Curtis who became her personal and business manager.[11] They developed a plan to turn Welch into a sex symbol.[12] To avoid typecasting as a Latina, he convinced her to use her husband's last name.[12]
She was cast in small parts in two films and landed small roles in the television series Bewitched, McHale's Navy and The Virginian. She also got work on the weekly variety series The Hollywood Palace as a billboard girl and presenter. She was one of many women who auditioned for the role of Mary Ann Summers on the television series Gilligan's Island.
Welch's first featured role was in beach film A Swingin' Summer (1965). That same year, she won the Deb Star and was noticed by the wife of producer Saul David, who recommended her to 20th Century Fox, where with the help of Curtis she landed a contract.[12] She agreed to seven-year nonexclusive contract, five pictures over the next five years and two floater.[11] She was cast in a leading role in the sci-fi film Fantastic Voyage (1966), in which she portrayed a member of a medical team that is miniaturized and injected into the body of an injured diplomat with the mission to save his life. The film was a hit and made her a star.[12] She was the last star to be created under the studio system.
One Million Years B.C.[edit]

This promotional still of Welch in the deer-skin bikini became a best-selling poster and turned her into an instant pin-up girl.
Fox Studio loaned Welch to Hammer Studios in Britain where she starred in One Million Years B.C. (1966) – a remake of the 1940 Hal Roach film, One Million B.C. Her only costume was a two-piece deer skin bikini. She was described as "wearing mankind's first bikini" and the fur bikini was described as a "definitive look of the 1960s".[16][17] One author said, "although she had only three lines in the film, her luscious figure in a fur bikini made her a star and the dream girl of millions of young moviegoers".[12] A publicity still of her in the bikini became a best-selling poster and turned her into an instant pin-up girl.[18] The film raised Welch's stature as a leading sex symbol of the era.[19] In 2011, Time listed Welch's B.C. bikini in the "Top Ten Bikinis in Pop Culture".[20]
Later roles[edit]
After her appearance as lust incarnate in the hit Bedazzled, she returned to the United States and appeared in the Western film Bandolero!, with James Stewart and Dean Martin, which was followed by the private-eye drama Lady in Cement with Frank Sinatra. Her looks and fame led Playboy to dub her the "Most Desired Woman" of the 1970s. Welch presented at the Academy Award ceremony several times during the 1970s due to her popularity.[21][22][23] She accepted the Best Supporting Actress Oscar on behalf of fellow actress Goldie Hawn when she could not be there to accept it.[24]

Welch's most controversial role came in the notorious Myra Breckinridge. She took the part as the film's transsexual heroine in an attempt to be taken seriously as an actress, but the movie was a failure. Welch starred in the movie, 100 Rifles, a 1969 western directed by Tom Gries. The film also starred Jim Brown, Burt Reynolds, and Fernando Lamas.
Television special[edit]

In 1970, Welch teamed up with Tom Jones and producer/choreographer David Winters of Winters-Rosen Productions[25] for the television special Raquel!, considered by some viewers to be a classic pairing together of 1970s popular culture icons in their prime. The multimillion-dollar television song-and-dance extravaganza was filmed around the world, from Paris to Mexico. The show featured lavish production numbers of classic songs from the era, extravagant costumes, and notable guest performances, including John Wayne and Bob Hope in the Wild West. She also appeared in a season three episode of The Muppet Show (1978).
In addition to her television special, Raquel!, her television appearances include the movies The Legend of Walks Far Woman and Right to Die in which she turned in a stirring performance as a woman stricken with Lou Gehrig's disease, and in the PBS series American Family, about a Mexican American family in East Los Angeles. She has appeared in the night-time soap opera Central Park West and made infomercials and exercise videos.
Additional film roles[edit]

She followed that with a series of films that included The Three Musketeers and The Wild Party. The actress was due to star in an 1982 adaptation of John Steinbeck's Cannery Row, but was fired by the producers a few days into production. The producers said that at 40 years old she was too old to play the character. She was replaced with Debra Winger. Welch sued and collected a $10.8 million settlement.[26]
Singing career[edit]
In 1987, she flirted with a pop singing career, thus releasing the dance single "This Girl's Back In Town". She has performed in a one-woman nightclub musical act in Las Vegas and has starred on Broadway in Woman of the Year, receiving praise for following Lauren Bacall in the title role. She also starred in Victor/Victoria, having less success following Julie Andrews and Liza Minnelli in the title roles.
Guest television appearances[edit]
In 1979, for the series "Mork and Mindy", Welch was featured as an alien bounty hunter after Robin Williams in "Mork v. the Necrotons". In a 1997 episode of the comedy series Seinfeld, entitled "The Summer of George", Welch played a highly temperamental version of herself, assaulting series characters Kramer and Elaine, the former because he fired her from an acting job and the latter because Welch mistakenly thought that Elaine was mocking her. She also appeared as a guest on the American comedy series Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, as Sabrina's flamboyant Aunt Vesta.
In 2001, she had a supporting role in the hit comedy film Legally Blonde opposite Reese Witherspoon. She also appeared in Welcome to The Captain, which premiered on CBS television on February 4, 2008.
Achievements and awards[edit]
In 1974, Welch won a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy for The Three Musketeers. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the television drama Right to Die (1987). In 1994, Welch received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7021 Hollywood Boulevard. In 2001, she was awarded the Imagen Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award for her positive promotion of Americans of Latin heritage throughout her career.[27][28]
Beauty and business career[edit]
The Raquel Welch Total Beauty and Fitness Program book and videos were first released in 1984. The book, written by Welch with photographs by André Weinfeld, includes a hatha yoga fitness program, her views on healthy living and nutrition, as well as beauty and personal style. The Multi-Platinum collection of Fitness and Yoga videos were produced and directed by André Weinfeld.[29][30][31][32] As a businesswoman, Welch succeeded with her signature line of wigs. She also began a jewelry and skincare line, although neither of those ventures compared to the success of her wig collection HAIRuWEAR.[33]
In January 2007, Welch was selected as the newest face of MAC Cosmetics Beauty Icon series. Her line features several limited-edition makeup shades in glossy black and tiger-print packaging. The tiger print motif of the collection celebrates Welch's feline and sensuous iconic image: "strong and wild, yet sultry and exotic".[34][35]
Personal life[edit]
Welch has been married to:
James Welch (1959–64), publicist and agent; divorced
Patrick Curtis (1967–72), director and producer; divorced
André Weinfeld (1980–90), producer, director and journalist; divorced
Richard Palmer (1999–), separated
Welch is the mother of Damon Welch (born November 6, 1959) and actress Tahnee Welch (born Latanne Rene Welch, December 26, 1961). Tahnee followed her mother's December 1979 example and appeared on the cover of Playboy in the November 1995 issue and in a nude pictorial inside it.[36]
In popular culture[edit]
Raquel Welch helped transform America’s feminine ideal into its current state. Her beautiful looks and eroticism made her the definitive 1960s and 70s sex icon, rather than the blonde bombshell of the late 50's as typified by Monroe, Mansfield, and others. Welch came in the mid-60's and was exotic, brunette, and smolderingly sexual.[37][38] Her countless publicity photos helped to popularize her image, dress style, and 60's and 70's fashion trends. Welch and other actresses also made big hair popular.
Raquel Welch is one of the first and few actresses who portrayed a female leading role in a Western movie. Hannie Caulder (1971) was a clear influence on later revenge films.[39] Quentin Tarantino said that the film was one of his inspirations for Kill Bill (2003).[40] It took many years, arguably until the Nineties, until female leads appeared in mainstream US cinema who are strong – without adding fictional or overemphasizing masculine traits (or portraying them as femme fatales).[41]

Plot[edit]
CSI: Miami follows a group of Detectives assigned to the MDPD's Crime Scene Investigation unit. The series mixes deduction, gritty subject matter, and character driven drama in the pursuit of using physical evidence to solve grisly and often bizarre murders. The team is led by Lieutenant Horatio Caine, who, through his history as a bomb-disposal expert, has gained specialised knowledge in explosive forensics. Horatio is not afraid to see the world in shades of grey, and often crosses ethical and legal boundaries in order to get justice for the innocent victims of crime his team encounters. His partner was originally Megan Donner. Donner was the director of the MDPD crime lab and had worked with Caine for many years when her husband was killed in the line of duty. Re-joining the team following a leave of absence she ruffled feathers in asserting her seniority. She sees justice in black and white. They work with a team of highly trained analysts including senior detective Calleigh Duquesne, a ballistics expert and who later becomes Horatio's second-in-command after Donner decided to quit the team. Duquesne is a blonde southern belle, which often results in suspects letting down their guard. And as the longest-standing member of the Miami CSI team she is all too aware of the risks that her colleagues must face while investigating crimes in the same vain as their Las Vegas, New York, and Quantico counterparts.
Creation[edit]
Concept and development[edit]
On April 17, 2002, CBS announced plans to launch a series originally titled CSI: Miami-Dade, a spin-off to the hit procedural CSI. On the location choice, co-creator Carol Mendelsohn stated that "[she, Anthony E. Zuiker, and Ann Donahue] felt Miami was the most happening place [...] Miami is so rich as a character. There is so much water. There are so many different cultures here all colliding. Its politics are so interesting. All that gives Miami an edge."[1] CBS ordered 22 episodes of the series, with Anthony Zuiker stating that whilst he intended for the series to look "ridiculously gorgeous," he felt that the "show [was] not about women walking around in bikinis. It's about science."[1] The series was launched as a second-season episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and originally featured a cast led by David Caruso, Emily Procter, Adam Rodriguez, Khandi Alexander, with Rory Cochrane. Kim Delaney joined the series following the pilot episode's broadcast.
Production[edit]
The series was executive produced by creators Carol Mendelsohn, Anthony E. Zuiker, and Ann Donahue, with Ann Donahue acting as show-runner. Jerry Bruckheimer also executive-produced the series. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation stars William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger expressed their displeasure at CBS' launch of Miami, with Petersen stating that "[they] should have waited five years for a ‘CSI’ spinoff." Helgenberger supported Petersen's comments during an Emmy acceptance speech, noting that "as far as [she was] concerned, there’s only one 'CSI'." Petersen jestingly referred to the series “NYPDCSI”, as it initially featured both David Caruso and Kim Delaney, of NYPD Blue fame.[2] On February 1, 2012, the network announced that the 10th season of CSI: Miami would be trimmed to 19 episodes to make room for the debut of mid-season replacement NYC 22.[3] On May 13, 2012, the series was canceled.[4][5]
Original casting[edit]
In mid 2002, CSI executive producer Anthony Zuiker began casting for the then-unnamed Miami based spin-off. First cast was Emily Procter, as Calleigh Duquesne. Regarding her decision to leave The West Wing and join Miami, Procter stated that "It was like choosing between a boyfriend that wants to be with you casually or a man that says I love you." She described her character as "a weird girl [...] bright and very nerdy. She wears a lot of boot-cut corduroy pants and turquoise necklaces and looks like a hippie. I just like to pretend I’m Velma in Scooby-Doo."[6] Adam Rodriguez, Rory Cochrane, and Khandi Alexander were cast alongside Procter, completing the supporting ensemble. For the lead, CBS suggested David Caruso. Zuiker, who stated that he had "heard about the NYPD Blue thing," was initially hesitant. Elaborating, Zuiker stated that he "sort of jumped in and said, 'Naw, I don't know about this guy. The show's tough enough to get off the ground and I don't want to walk into any problems." CBS president Les Moonves had announced in January that a Miami spin-off was imminent, yet "It wasn't until we sort of, like, at the eleventh hour, really started to look at our options as to who was going to play Horatio, [Zuiker, Mendelsohn, and Donahue] revisited Caruso. And [they] said, 'Yeah, we'll have him come out for dinner, see what he's about.'"[7] Caruso was later cast as Caine. He was the last pilot cast member to be contracted to series.
Following the back-door pilot, Zuiker stated that he believed the series "needed a little more balance in terms of a leading woman". Executives offered Sela Ward the part of Megan Donner, a Lieutenant and Horatio's former boss. Ward turned down the role,[8] and producers later cast Kim Delaney. Ann Donahue described Delaney's casting as "a no-brainer," stating that "when Kim became available, we knew in a heartbeat that we wanted her." Zuiker elaborated, noting that "Kim brings a level of maturity, a level of balance with David Caruso [...] We just felt we were missing something in the whole picture - we needed a strong female in the cast." The New York Times reported that original lead Emily Procter would "now follow Ms. Delaney in the credits." In late 2002, despite receiving excellent feedback from producers, Delaney departed the cast after ten episodes. CBS issued a statement noting that Delaney's character had become less integral to the series as it progressed, "they had hoped to duplicate the sparks between William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger on the original CSI," noted EW, but Delaney and Caruso's chemistry was lackluster.[9] Delaney became the first of many cast members to depart the series, and was not replaced. Sela Ward later went on to lead the cast of spin-off series CSI: NY, alongside Gary Sinise.
Locations[edit]
The SkyOne headquarters regularly used as the police station.
CSI: Miami was filmed primarily in California. Indoor scenes were shot at Raleigh Manhattan Studios in Manhattan Beach, California. Most outdoor scenes were filmed in Long Beach, as well as portions of Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. Beach areas of Marina Green Park and Rainbow Lagoon Park in downtown Long Beach were often used for other outdoor scenes, as the newly constructed high-rise condos there gave the pretense of being in Miami. Many outdoor location shots were also filmed in Miami-Dade County, Florida, including Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and Miami Beach.[10] The sculptured walkway paying tribute to the old Pike Roller Coaster can be seen in the background in the episodes "Wrecking Crew" and "Under The Influence". Footage from the Biscayne Courthouse, visible prominently in the episode "Recoil", among others, was filmed at the Water Garden Park in Santa Monica, at 34.028728, -118.471331.[11] Other locations around Long Beach are used such as the Naples district, whose canals and upscale homes featuring large boat docks and palm trees impart a Miami-like atmosphere.[12] The building used for exterior shots of the Miami-Dade Police Department crime lab is actually the SkyOne Federal Credit Union headquarters located at 14600 Aviation Boulevard in Hawthorne, California.[13]
Music[edit]
CSI: Miami's main theme is Won't Get Fooled Again, written and performed by The Who, who also perform the theme songs of the other three CSI series. Also like its sister-series, Miami uses a number of well-known songs to accompany scenes throughout its run, including This Woman's Work, by English rock singer Kate Bush.
Cast[edit]
Main article: List of CSI: Miami characters
Main cast[edit]
David Caruso as Horatio Caine; the Director of the MDPD Crime Lab and a sworn Police Lieutenant. Rising through the ranks as a bomb squad technician, Caine is an expert in explosive forensics and is incredibly protective of his team. He often goes to extraordinary lengths to save evidence or a potential victim. Throughout the course of the series, he becomes more jaded and less ethical, developing a far more serious, direct, and to-the-point attitude, though he maintains his ability to communicate well with children who have suffered traumatic ordeals. (starring: seasons 1-10).
Emily Procter as Calleigh Duquesne; a CSI Level 3 and Horatio's Assistant Supervisor. Calleigh is a veteran MDPD Detective and the longest serving member of the crime lab. She is a ballistics specialist. Her slight build, blonde good looks, and southern belle accent often lead others to underestimate her, but she is a brilliant and a dedicated scientist. She develops a romantic relationship with fellow CSI Eric Delko, and, in the shows final season, adopts two children. (starring: seasons 1-10).
Adam Rodriguez as Eric Delko; a fingerprint and drug expert of Cuban and Russian descent. Detective Delko first encountered the CSI team whilst working as a tow-truck driver. Horatio convinced him to join the MDPD, and the two became good friends. Eric has one sister, who Horatio married, and little to no other family. Because of this, he builds strong bonds where he works, developing a strong friendship with Tim Speedle, and a romantic interest in Calleigh. (starring: seasons 1-8, 9-10; recurring: season 8).
Khandi Alexander as Alexx Woods; a Medical Examiner for Miami Dade County. Alexx began her medical career in New York as a physician and became a medical examiner with the CSI team after moving to Miami for personal reasons. She is a very emotional person, and is more of a "mother" figure for the CSI team, showing great concern for them. She also often talks to the dead bodies. Alexx eventually leaves CSI in order to spend more time with the living. (starring: seasons 1-6; guest star: seasons 7-8).
Rory Cochrane as Tim Speedle, known affectionately as "Speed"; a trace evidence and impressions expert from Syracuse, New York. He worked for the St. Petersburg PD in 1997, and had a degree in biology from Columbia University. Speed joined the team at the recommendation of Jesse Cardoza, and became an invaluable asset. Speed often failed to comply to departmental standards, however, and was killed as a result of his unclean weapon misfiring. (starring: seasons 1-3; guest star: season 6).
Kim Delaney as Megan Donner; Horatio's first partner and a respected MDPD Police Lieutenant. She was the director of the MDPD Crime Lab prior to taking indefinite leave due to the death of her husband, who was killed in the line of duty. She believes in following the evidence, and as such is often seen as adversarial to Horatio's go-with-the-gut Detective style. As a result of this, Megan resigns, finding the pressure of the job to now be more than she could handle. (starring: season 1).
Sofia Milos as Yelina Salas; a Colombian homicide detective frequently attached to CSI investigations, and the widow of Horatio's brother Raymond Caine. She later starts a relationship with IAB Sergeant Rick Stetler. Yelina leaves the team and moves to Rio with her family, although she later returns to Miami as a private investigator. She remains good friends with Horatio throughout the series. (starring: season 3; recurring: seasons 1-2; guest star: seasons 5-7).
Jonathan Togo as Ryan Wolfe; a Detective attached to Horatio's team. Ryan was working as a police officer at the time he was hired for the lab by Caine, who noted Ryan's immaculate care of his gun, likely due to Wolfe having OCD. Ryan was replacing fallen CSI Tim Speedle, who died in the line of duty as a direct result of his poor gun maintenance. The team, and Eric in particular, are hostile to Ryan at first, though they later warm to him. (starring: seasons 3-10; recurring: season 3).
Rex Linn as Frank Tripp; a Texas-born homicide detective who accompanies the team to the crime scenes. He is known for interrogating suspects in his typical sarcastic manner and has a good working relationship with all the CSIs. He is divorced with three kids, and has known Horatio since at least 1997. Over the course of the series, he is promoted to Sergeant, taking on a more prominent role within the MDPD, and spending a short time in uniform. (starring: seasons 5-10; recurring: seasons 1-4).
Eva LaRue as Natalia Boa Vista; an MDPD Detective and DNA specialist hired by Caine. Upon her arrival, she was only allowed to work on cold or unsolved cases due to the restrictions of her federal grant, although it is later revealed she is in fact an FBI Special Agent working undercover. She later applies to join the team permanently, much to the initial chagrin of Delko and Wolfe. She was a victim of domestic abuse during her marriage. (starring: seasons 5-10; recurring: season 4).
Megalyn Echikunwoke as Tara Price; the day-shift medical examiner who replaced Alexx following her departure. She is initially well-received by the team, until she is shown to steal a bottle of Oxycodone (an opioid analgesic medication) from a victim in the morgue. Ryan Wolfe confronts Tara about the stolen pills in her locker, and she is later arrested and dismissed from the team. Tara is replaced shortly thereafter by Dr. Tom Loman. (starring: season 7).
Eddie Cibrian as Jesse Cardoza; an MDPD Detective who worked with Horatio and Megan prior to the formation of the CSI team. He returns to Miami following a stint as a LAPD officer in order to track the man who murdered his wife. Cardoza builds strong friendships within the team but is killed in the line of duty during a halon attack on the lab. Calleigh is particularly hurt by his loss. (starring: season 8; guest star: season 9).
Omar Benson Miller as Walter Simmons; a Louisiana native and art theft specialist who transfers over from the night shift to join Horatio's team. Simmons' large build is often intimidating to suspects. However, he is shown to be one of the most caring and compassionate members of the team. He is extremely close to both Ryan and Jesse, and develops a friendship with LVPD CSI Raymond Langston. (starring: seasons 8-10; guest star: season 8).
Recurring characters[edit]
Main article: Minor characters in CSI: Miami
Holt McCallany as John Hagen; a Homicide Detective who had emotional and psychological problems. He was the partner of Caine's presumed-dead brother. Hagen kills himself in front of Calleigh. (seasons 1-3).
Boti Bliss as Maxine Valera; a DNA technician who works on Caine's team. She is incredibly capable but has an unfortunate habit of taking shortcuts whilst processing evidence. (seasons 2-8).
Johnny Whitworth as Jake Berkeley; originally an MDPD Narcotics Detective, Jack transfers to Homicide following a stint in undercover. He and Calleigh were in a relationship in the academy, and later rekindle this. (seasons 5-8).
Christian Clemenson as Tom Loman; Miami's newest Medical Examiner and the replacement of Dr. Tara Price. Loman is socially awkward but invaluable to the team, developing strong bonds throughout his tenure. (seasons 8-10).
Taylor Cole as Samantha Owens; an MDPD Detective who is assigned to Horatio's CSI team. Formerly a lab technician, Owens develops a flirtatious relationship with Wolfe (season 10).

Like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami has spawned a series of comic books, novels, and video games based on the show. In addition, the show CSI: NY spun off from a second-season episode of CSI: Miami. CSI has also been released as a series of mobile games. In fall 2007, CBS teamed up with game developer Gameloft to bring CSI to mobile phones. The first of the series to be published was CSI: Miami. The game features actual cast members such as Horatio Caine, Alexx Woods and Calleigh Duquesne who are trying to solve a murder in South Beach with the player's assistance.[14] The game is also available for download on various iPod devices.[15]

Early life[edit]
LaRue was born in Long Beach, California to Marcie and Luis LaRuy. She has three siblings, sisters Nika and Lara and a brother, Luis Jr.[1] She is of French, Puerto Rican, Dutch, and Scottish ancestries.[2] She is a member of the Bahá'í Faith.[3]
LaRue began acting at the age of six and was later a teenage beauty queen. She won Danfranc Productions Miss California Empire 1984 title at the state pageant held in Irvine, California. In 1985, she graduated from Norco High School[4] and soon after she started modeling, first working with the Judith Fontaine Agency and eventually with Frederick's of Hollywood.[4]
Career[edit]
From 1993 to 1997 and again from 2002 to 2005, LaRue portrayed Dr. Maria Santos Grey on All My Children.[5] There, she was half of All My Children supercouple Edmund and Maria. She received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the category of "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series" for All My Children. She also received a nomination in 2004 in the category of "Outstanding Original Song" for composing the song "Dance Again with You," which was used as a backdrop to the lovemaking scene after the third marriage of the characters Edmund and Maria in June 2003.
In 2010, LaRue reprised her role as Maria temporarily on January 5 for All My Children's 40th anniversary.[6]
LaRue also performed in television movies over the years, appearing as Annette Funicello in a biographical movie of the former Mouseketeer and also in the adaptation of Danielle Steel's Remembrance as Princess Serena.
In 2005 LaRue portrayed Linda Lorenzo, George Lopez's "Long Lost" sister, on the TV sitcom George Lopez. In the fall 2005, LaRue began the role of Natalia Boa Vista on CSI: Miami. It was revealed in the end of season four that Eva's character, Natalia Boa Vista, was the mole in the lab reporting back to the FBI. Beginning with season five, LaRue became a full-time cast member.
LaRue and her daughter recently starred in a music video for the song "Armed" by Bahá'í recording artist, Devon Gundry.
In July 2011 and September 2011, LaRue reprised her role as Dr. Maria Santos Grey on All My Children as a guest star as the show wrapped up its network run on ABC. In 2013 she played Agent Tanya Mays in the episode "Final Shot" on Criminal Minds.
In July 2015, it was announced that LaRue had been cast on Fuller House, the revival series of the sitcom Full House. She will be playing the character of Teri Tanner, the vivacious wife of Danny Tanner. The series will premiere on Netflix in 2016.[7]

LaRue's sister Nika was one of the women photographed by convicted serial killer William Richard Bradford for his collection. She was no. 3 (out of 54 women) on the poster released by the Los Angeles Police Department to find living victims. Bradford would photograph women he met in bars under the guise that he would assist their modeling careers. The incident was used in CSI: Miami in the season five episode "Darkroom" soon after the revelation.[8]
LaRue is a third cousin to Jane Fonda.[9]
From 1992 to 1994, LaRue was married to actor John O'Hurley.
LaRue was also married to fellow All My Children actor, John Callahan from 1996 to 2005. She gave birth to their daughter Kaya McKenna Callahan on December 6, 2001.
On June 26, 2010, LaRue married Joe Cappucio. They divorced in early 2014.

Franco-American flag
French Americans are U.S. citizens or nationals of French descent and heritage. The majority of Franco-American families did not arrive directly from France, but rather settled French territories in the New World (primarily in the 17th and 18th centuries) before moving or being forced to move to the United States later on (see Quebec diaspora and Great Upheaval). Also, the largest French territory in North America was sold to the U.S., absorbing their French citizens (see Louisiana Purchase). About thirteen million U.S. residents are of French descent, and about 1.5 million of them speak the French language at home. Being isolated, mixed with different cultures, or ignored, the French-Americans developed particular cultures that reflect varying degrees of adaptation of their environments. This gave birth to streams of French-Americans like the Acadians, the Cajuns (literally Acadian pronounced with a southern accent), Louisiana Créoles and many others.
The following is a list of notable French Americans by occupation, including both original immigrants who obtained American citizenship and their American descendants.

The Malagasy French Malgache are the ethnic group that forms nearly the entire population of Madagascar They are divided into two subgroups the "Highlander" Merina Sihanaka and Betsileo of the central plateau around Antananarivo Alaotra Ambatondrazaka and Fianarantsoa and the "coastal dwellers" elsewhere in the country This division has its roots in historical patterns of settlement The original Austronesian settlers from Borneo arrived between the third and tenth centuries and established a network of principalities in the Central Highlands region conducive to growing the rice they had carried with them on their outrigger canoes Sometime later a large number of settlers arrived from East Africa and established kingdoms along the relatively unpopulated coastlines
The difference in ethnic origins remains somewhat evident between the highland and coastal regions In addition to the ethnic distinction between highland and coastal Malagasy one may speak of a political distinction as well Merina monarchs in the late th and early th century united the Merina principalities and brought the neighboring Betsileo people under their administration first They later extended Merina control over the majority of the coastal areas as well The military resistance and eventual defeat of most of the coastal communities assured their subordinate position vis à vis the Merina Betsileo alliance During the th and th centuries the French colonial administration capitalized on and further exacerbated these political inequities by appropriating existing Merina governmental infrastructure to run their colony This legacy of political inequity dogged the people of Madagascar after gaining independence in candidates ethnic and regional identities have often served to help or hinder their success in democratic elections
Within these two broad ethnic and political groupings the Malagasy were historically subdivided into specifically named ethnic groups who were primarily distinguished from one another on the basis of cultural practices These were namely agricultural hunting or fishing practices construction style of dwellings music hair and clothing styles and local customs or taboos the latter known in the Malagasy language as fady citation needed The number of such ethnic groups in Madagascar has been debated The practices that distinguished many of these groups are less prevalent in the st century than they were in the past But many Malagasy are proud to proclaim their association with one or several of these groups as part of their own cultural identity
